BELIZE CITY, Belize — Blue Nutrients Belize Ltd., a pioneer in sustainable mariculture, has been selected as one of eight recipients of the prestigious Belize Fund for a Sustainable Future grant. The Company will receive funding as part of the Fund’s BZ $1.13 million 2024-2025 grant cycle to develop a self-sustaining seaweed industry in Belize.
The BZ$149,740 Belize Fund grant, is matched with a BZ$166,600 joint contribution from the Company and co-financed by Heva Advisors LLC, a US company founded by Christina Kinder. The grant and funds will support Blue Nutrients Belize’s innovative approach to establishing an economically viable and environmentally responsible seaweed cultivation industry, contributing to both marine conservation and economic development in coastal communities.

The Blue Nutrients Belize project aligns with the Belize Fund’s focus on blue business innovation and climate resilience, joining initiatives from other grantees including marine conservation, sustainable fisheries, and community-led environmental protection programs.
Blue Nutrients Belize’s seaweed cultivation project will:
- Establish industry best practices in post-harvesting quality control.
- Develop value-added seaweed products for domestic and international markets.
- Create long-term, sustainable financing for national industry development.
- Create employment opportunities for local communities
- Support restorative aquaculture practices
The Belize Fund for a Sustainable Future’s grant program demonstrates Belize’s commitment to building a resilient blue economy while preserving its marine resources for future generations.
