Blue Nutrients Develops Sea Moss Products for Export

The Ministry of Home Affairs and New Growth Industries is collaborating with Blue Nutrients Belize Limited to advance the country’s seaweed sector, with the company’s Belize Sea Moss product positioned as a premium sustainable export.

At the Belize Investment Summit 2025 in San Pedro, New Growth Industries (NGI) spotlighted Belize’s potential in seaweed. Hon. Kareem Musa, Minister of Home Affairs and New Growth Industries joined a panel discussion, emphasizing NGI’s role in driving investment and commended Blue Nutrients for its investment.

Ginéé Neal, Acting Director for NGI, said the partnership is focused on expanding value-added products that build on the superfood qualities of sea moss.

Blue Nutrients is developing a line that includes nutraceuticals, capsules, powders, skin care items and food supplements. The company is also testing innovations such as blending seaweed with charcoal to create facial treatments and other cross-sector products.

Neal said the ministry’s strategy emphasizes economic diversification, sustainability and community benefit, while supporting environmentally responsible industries.
